The Healing...
The healing is to be achieved through spiritual direction, prayer, and emotional support. A residence will be erected for a chaplain to live on site. A building will be erected to house an office, counseling room, and restrooms. Also planned are two small retreat houses and an outdoor "Way of the Cross."
The site will be available to the general public as a place honor and grieve babies who have died, unborn and born. The chapel will be available for private and public prayer. Support groups will be organized for those who need ongoing support. Retreats will be made available once the retreat houses have been constructed.

Our Name...
"Raphael" is a Hebrew name that translates to "God has healed." It is the name of the archangel who appears in the Old Testament (Catholic version) in the Book of Tobit. Our organization, and the land upon which it will be built, has been placed under the protection of Archangel Raphael.
Archangel Raphael is known as one who heals through the power of God. He is also known as the Patron of Travelers. If you are not familiar with Tobit and his son, Tobias, we encourage you to read the wonderful story.
If you have lost a child due to induced abortion, miscarriage, stillbirth, or infant death, or if you have been involved with the abortion industry, and you would like to talk or write to someone about it, there are many possibilities. Some of your options are:
| Contact a local pregnancy help center. Look in the Yellow Pages under "Abortion Alternatives" or online at www.pregnancycenters.org | ||
|
Contact Project Rachel, a ministry to help people (parents, grandparents, etc.) who suffer because of abortion. To locate a group, phone or e-mail a local Catholic diocese and ask for the Respect Life office. That office will provide contact for you. They can also be contacted via www.hopeafterabortion.com |
||
| Contact
the National Office of Post-Abortion Reconciliation & Healing. This
a referral agency. They can be contacted at PO Box 070477, Milwaukee, WI

Telescopes to be at Raphael's Refuge July 10
Flatonia, Texas (July 2, 2009) - Raphael's Refuge will host a Star Party on the monument grounds Friday night, from 9:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. Astromony Professor Don Winget, from the University of Texas, his wife, Karen, and son, Davis, will guide the viewing, using their personal telescopes. The evening will include stunning views of Saturn, globular clusters, double stars, nebulae, and neighboring galaxies. At 10:45 p.m., the full moon and Jujpiter will rise together -- a beautiful sight. For comfort and safety, please bring closed toed shoes, bug repellent, and a small flashlight. You may also want to bring along a chair.
Everyone is welcome to come. If you have questions or doubts relating to weather (clouds, rain), call Midge at 361-258-1514 (cell), 361-865-3021 (hm.), or 361-865-3812 (R's R). If it has been raining, but is clear that night, the party may still need to be cancelled due to parking problems.
